$75 OFF For your consideration is this exquisite one-of-a-kind handmade hand dyed silk Japanese artist hinged (opens and closes) ostrich egg with nature’s panoramic scenes. The egg features a stunning all-over muted color hand-painted finish with gold thread accents and a tremendous amount of small detailed Japanese ‘tsumami’ (Japanese art of hand folding small silk pieces to create something, which is used in expensive hair ornaments, etc.), which also create fabulous 3-D nature scenes. The egg is a very rare one of a kind find crafted in the United States in the mid-1980’s by a local Southern CA Japanese artist, who also owned a famous high end arts and crafts Japanese supplies store and taught numerous classes. This is a rare one of a kind masterpiece, which is so difficult to create. I learned how to make these tiny ‘tsumami’ pieces, which are mainly used to create high end Japanese hair ornaments known as ‘kanzashi’ for apprentice geishas known as ‘maiko,’ Kabuki actors, elaborate wedding & celebration accessories, etc. This treasure is a great piece and true work of art to procure because you will seldom see it. Only created by those, who have studied this traditional hundreds of years old Japanese craft. Egg shows esp’ in Japan sell these pieces for double of what the initial auction price is. I love these ‘tsumami’ works of art and have a few in my collection. I love this one, but felt as I get up in age, it is a good idea to share this treasure with others.
