Memory Board for AN/URC101 Memory Board 84-P07106L002 upgrade retrofit rebuilt for Motorola AN/URC-101 Item description This is the memory board for the Motorola AN/URC-101 military radio, type 84-P07106L002. It might also fit other radios in this family (URC-100, URC-104 and URC-110) but you need to verify that for yourself using the Motorola part number 84-P07106L002. In the URC-101 radio, this memory board often is corroded due to leakage from the 3.6V nickel-cadmium battery that is permanently mounted on the board to back up the static memory ICs. Even when it has not suffered leakage, the backup battery is not available any more, and difficult to remove as it is soldered-in. The new board that we offer here resolves all these issues. It is drop-in compatible with the old board, having exactly the same dimensions. Also, electrically the compatibility is 100%. It also has the gold-plated edge connector, and a sturdy solder mask to protect the traces (where the old board did not have this). The new board is equipped with a battery holder for a removable lithium CR123 battery. You can either place a non-rechargeable Lithium CR123 battery in the holder, or a rechargeable version. We recommend the rechargeable version because the voltage for that battery is closer to the original battery (3.7V for the rechargeable lithium battery vs 3.6V for the original battery). The board will not charge the battery, but the self-discharge of lithium is so low, and the capacity so large, that it will last you many years before you need to replace (or recharge) the battery. But the best of all: lithium batteries do not leak, so you will never have to deal with aggressive chemical leakage that can corrode your board, or worse, the rest of your radio. What is included We supply this board with all the components including the memory chips and the battery holder soldered onto it. The only thing that is not included is the CR123 battery and tie-wrap that secures the battery. The CR123 Li-battery is widely available elsewhere. The actual board that you will get is tested and found to function fully. I have included a few photos in the listing that show a board like this with the battery installed and a tie-wrap around it to secure it as an example of what the finished board would look like. Also included are photos that demonstrate what a board like this looks like when installed in the radio. The radio, the battery and the tie-wrap are not included in this listing. One battery charge should last an estimated 10 years or even more. We had fully charged the battery (that has a nominal voltage of 3.7V) in our radio to a level of 4.2V about one year ago and it has only dropped to 4.1V since then without recharging in between. Shipping and Payment Shipment will be USPS. In the unlikely case that damage occurs during transport we require the buyer to document this properly by immediately taking detailed pictures of the damage of both the item and the shipping box and keep the box for further inspection before a claim can be made. Without submitting these pictures there will not be reimbursement for the damaged shipment. International buyers are welcome but email me for a shipping quote first before you buy.
