“Artist’s Proof” & Totally Adorable “PLATYPUS (& PERCH”)Simply Amazing Work of Art by William J. Great Buy!US Shipping Only at this Time Just a wonderful work by William Kazmar Studio (1974-1985) & this is his artist proof of this model. This is from a vast private collection of nearly every work done by William Kazmar & his studio. William Kazmar opened his own studio in 1974 with his family in New Jersey, he had worked for Boehm (1958-1970) & perhaps other companies before. The Kazmar’s studio burned in 1985 & so finding an artist proof is likely even more rare. Not sure how collector we acquired work from obtained it, but his collection was so extensive it may have been a personal gift or other. This work features a sizeable (12″) long platypus swimming over a group of three perch. Great colors & detail to work as shown in pictures. Base is ink signed & impression signed in porcelain. Base is roughly 9″ x 5.5″ & it is roughly 7.5″ high. This would make a great display piece as (noted below) this is larger than most other porcelain animal works but not overwhelming either. Certainly will bring the questions “What is that & who did it”. Then you can say “Its by William Kazmar & its his original proof”. Truly a great piece of art from a wonderfully talented family. The Kazmar works are larger than many ceramic animal productions by many companies & frankly of much higher quality & far more scarce. They only produced their works in very limited editions usually from 100 to 600 or so. The works mostly retailed from $200-$1200 each, depending on size & complexity. We think the actual Platypus would have been towards the higher end due to its detailed elements & its limited edition of only 250. We are pricing at what we feel is very fair for an artist’s “Proof”, really a great find. Please note: The little perch appear to be attached by a small porcelain stim, so unwrap from shipping with some care. We go to extremes when we pack delicate items, but wanted you to note it. We will send pictures of packing as well, which may help you. There is a very nice information source online for the Kazmar Studio porcelain productions & we owe a lot to it for the limited information we could find. If you search The Chadsworth Lady & Kazmar you will find it. Some of their works have appeared on eBay lately for far under original prices, we think this is largely since almost no one is familiar with the maker & the original prices. It is a shame as the works have a much better display presence & quality appeal to them than so many inferior ones by other makers. Also, with the studio fire in 1985 many of the limited editions may have never been completed making these even rarer. We will be listing a few other rare Kazmar statues in the next few days. We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only 1 time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer’s responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country’s regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required on this item due to value, so please plan accordingly. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
