AURORA’s ThunderJet 500 classic Pancake chassis design from the sixties is the preferred choice of racing clubs and vintage slot car enthusiasts. Johnny Lightning’s Tuff Ones ThunderJet chassis is newly tooled & durability tested and replicates the performance and design of AURORA’s Hopped-Up TJet 500 Tuff Ones chassis from the early 1970’s. The Tuff Ones chassis was AURORA’s last adaptation of the ThunderJet 500 before the release of the AFX chassis. This durable Pancake chassis design will require regular maintenance including tuning, cleaning, and oiling; just like they did back in the day. This is part of the FUN of HO Slot Car Racing! These slot cars are reproductions of the vintage style collectible slot cars from your past! Compatible with most HO electric racing slot car race track sets including Life-Like®, TYCO®, Mattel®, TOMY® AFX® Racemasters™, auto world®, Model Motoring®, Aurora® Lock & Joiner, Aurora® AFX® Speed-Lok, Marchon®, and Micro Scalextric®. Playing Mantis Johnny Lightning ThunderJet 500 Slot Cars Release 1 chassis are different from all other releases of JL T-Jet 500 Tuff-Ones chassis. Release one chassis are black. All other release chassis are grey. R1 chassis guide pins are shorter, the pick-up shoe springs are longer, and the R1 chassis wheel base is shorter. R1 cars are considered ‘collectibles’ & ‘hard-to-find’ and are sold ‘as is’. A word on shipping handling times: We get lots of positive feedback praising our fast shipping. And in over 20 years of shipping HO SLOT CARS, we have never lost a package. We suspect this is because the USPS takes Postal Fraud very seriously as under United States Code 18 Section 1708, federal mail theft and fraud is a felony punishable by up to five years in federal prison and fines of up to $250,000. However, on a very few rare occasions, the USPS has taken a bit longer than expected to deliver a package. This usually is the result of the USPS putting a package on the wrong truck or plane. Slot Car Racing is an adult hobby and does not offer the same experience as new high tech toys and video games. There are adult racing clubs all over the country dedicated to racing both Vintage Style and Modern Magnet Style slot cars. Slot Car Racing is a hobby requiring mechanical skills and dexterity for driving and chassis & track maintenance. Most slot car enthusiasts are adults.
