These are original lobby cards as used in movie theatres. A lobby card is an 11 x 14 inch placard advertising a movie. They were displayed in the theatre lobby to entice moviegoers to go to the box office and buy a ticket. These are in either good, used condition or brand new depending on whether or not they have been used at all. Please see description and list of any flaws (below). Questions? This authentic lobby card set (as issued by N.S.S.- National Screen Service) was printed in full color on a slightly heavier stock paper. *PLEASE NOTE* These lobby cards are on the standard stock of paper typically used. Lobby Cards measure 11″ x 14″ and were almost always printed in sets of 8 (some lower budget movies only had a set of 4). Many lobby card sets (usually pre-1970 sets) have a “title card”. A title card normally has artwork and the credits from the movie, and is different in appearance from the other seven cards in the set. The artwork is usually the same as that of the artwork on one of the styles of half-sheet. It is very difficult to find complete lobby card sets from pre-1970 movies, as almost all of these were long ago broken up and sold by the individual card. These are ORIGINALS! Very Good: Above average condition. Good: Average used condition, may have pinholes or tape in border areas, slight damage to surface on folds. Fair: Possible tape repairs on folds, tears or pieces missing on borders, water stain, more pinholes than usual. Poor: Heavier damage such as surface folds completely worn, bigger water stains, but presentable and usable. Condition: Overall FAIR to GOOD Pinholes Yes Border Damage None Tears None Paper loss None Any Extra Flaws? Yes – details below This set is in Fair to Good condition. I am not a self-proclaimed professional expert in rating items but I do call ’em as I see ’em in the utmost honest and fair way possible although it might actually be in better or worse condition as seen by you. I have been dealing in movie memorabilia since 1975 and do have experienced knowledge on the grading system. I have noticed that some dealers differ in their opinions on conditions. Notable defects: * Some cards have light corner bends and creases (see pics).* All cards have pin holes or staple holes except the card #5 and #7.* There are 2 small dried scotch tape stains on the front of card #1 and 5 on the back of the card.* There is writing on the back of cards #2 & 8 (“60-192) done in black China Marker of which it doesn’t bleed through.* On card #6 is scribbling done in green magic marker on front where boy is holding cash (see close-up pic). The images are fine and would display nicely if each card is framed. Based on your ideas of quality, this could be a candidate for restoration or linen-back. Still a nice collectible, regardless. This will be sold AS IS! No exceptions. You will not be disappointed. *Please Note* You will receive these lobby cards in a protective plastic slip sleeve with a piece of cardboard. *Tips* When buying an Original Lobby Card(s) from the 1960’s, 1970’s or 1980’s. Check the NSS # National Screen Service as it should always be printed on each card in the bottom right-hand corner. (There are certain exceptions.) If you don’t see this, question the authenticity of the lobby card(s). *Note* Sometimes you won’t find these on independent films that weren’t printed by the NSS. If you have any questions on any of these lobby cards whether it be who’s pictured on the card, or condition, etc. – please feel free to ask and I will do my best to provide details.
