I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection (and this is one of my best). Italeri has really stepped up their game, especially with their more recent large-scale releases, like Patrol Boats and Aircraft. Based on the positive critical reception of this kit, they have nailed this release and created the best F-104G in any scale. This kit comes loaded with all the goodies you need, including a well-detailed cockpit and engine, massive Cartograf decal sheets, and extensive photo-etch parts. There are lots of these kits listed on eBay (mostly from overseas sellers in Italy and Germany), but I am a Top Rated Plus US Seller that has this in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this stupendous product: The italeri.com site has 22 high resolution photos of the box art, sprues, photo etched metal fret and two large sheets of Cartograf decals along with the following blurb promoting the kit: FULLY UPGRADED MOULDS Finely engraved recessed panel lines and rivets – Fully detailed engine, cockpit and avionics bay – Open or closed air brakes – 2 huge decal sheets for 8 versions – Instruction sheet with color profiles (8×4 plates) – 390 parts (343 plastic parts, 47 photo-etched parts) The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is one of the most famous fighters in the history of aviation and also one with the longest operational life: its history began at the end of the 50s and ended, for some air forces, in mid 2000s. From its unique aerodynamic design, characterized by slender fuselage and very little wing surface, was developed the combat-capable two-seat advanced trainer version TF-104. Among the most widespread version, the TF-104G, produced by Lockheed was a fundamental training step for all the combat pilots before to seat in the F-104G or F-104S single-seat fighter version cockpits. Compared to the single-seat, the TF-104G didn’t have the 20 mm gun and the centerline pylon but, thanks to the General Electric J79 turbojet engine, the pilot and the trainer could have the same flight experience and performance of the fighter version. A lot of N.A.T.O. air forces used the TF-104G to perform training duties as Belgium, Holland, Norway, Spain, Turkey, Germany and Italy. Paul Tosney did an excellent In Box Review on modelbuilderinternational.com showing over 70 thumbnails (I couldn’t get to most of them or any of the larger photos). He provided an elaborate history of the T-104 family and a link to the Unboxing Video referenced below. He summarizes the parts in the kit and was impressed by the options this outstanding kit presents, saying: “This is a very nice kit with some good diorama options in the box. You could do a nice simple build or you could go to town and leave the engine out on its stand in a hanger environment.” Model Builder International did a lengthy (almost 20 minutes) Unboxing Video on YouTube that starts with video of actual TF-104s then goes into the box contents and has a very well-produced segment on the instructions where they cut in images of the kit parts. Michael Benolkin did a detailed First Look Review on cybermodeler.com showing five large photos of the kit contents; three covering the sprues and PE set and two just for the huge Cartograf decal sheets. He gives a detailed history of the F-104 and its variants. He lists the many outstanding features of the kit and the weapons and marking options. He believes that it will be a straightforward build. What caught my attention in his review was his praise for the instructions, saying: “The instruction manuals are also noteworthy in that it is (1) large format; (2) 48 pages; and, (3) illustrated with high quality CAD images for assembly instructions and full-color profiles for decal placement/color scheme instructions. This is how everyone should do their instructions.” Scalemates.com shows that this was a 2018 release based on the new state-of-the-art tooling in 2013. They show the dramatic box art and many links to reviews, aftermarket parts, references and galleries to get you psyched for your build. This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 22” x 11” x 4.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the box is in great shape and is still sealed with two large tape disks, so it is factory sealed and definitely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 300 light grey and over 20 clear plastic parts, 47 photo etched parts and two very large sheets of Cartograf decals for eight different aircraft.
